If you feel you need a natural moisturizer then use extra-virgin olive oil or extra-virgin coconut oil.
Remember that without regular exercise, a continual supply of fresh air, and a daily dose of sunshine, you cannot begin to achieve or maintain the vibrant health that is your right. Together with a healthy diet these three things have helped Mark and me avoid jet lag on eighteen-hour trans-Atlantic flights! |

Coconut and coconut oil are plant-based medium chain saturated fats that have been shown to provide extraordinary health benefits.
The Ugly—Trans Fats
While they exist in nature, trans fatty acids are also produced by heating liquid vegetable oils in the presence of hydrogen, in a process known as hydrogenation. This process increases the oils' firmness and resistance to oxidative spoilage. These are fats that the body cannot easily break down and often lead to blocked arteries and heart disease. |

You may want to blend some of these oils together. The coconut oil will help to make the mixture spreadable or you may just want to blend some of these natural oils with butter to start with
• Remember that without the right fat you can actually slow down your metabolism as it is controlled by the endocrine system, which cannot function efficiently without essential fats. |

Controlled protein intake along with more liberal healthy fats, such as fish oil, olive oil, and coconut oil can have a very positive effect, as does eating a balanced diet that is high in fiber. Regular aerobic exercise is also known to reduce blood insulin levels.16
Some lifestyle habits should be avoided. Not only should you refrain from smoking, but you should also avoid these other addictive substances—caffeine, alcohol, over-the-counter medications, or "hidden" sources of fructose, such as soda and fruit juices. |

Using a dry popper is best, but cold-pressed extra-virgin coconut oil can be used quite safely (and tastes spectacular) and butter is fine provided you resort to this method of preparation only on the odd occasion. (Remember that heated fats are not all that good for the body.) I always drizzle popcorn made in a popcorn machine with olive oil and then lightly sprinkle it with herbal salt. Plain, salted chips, although not ideal, can also be served. Go for the unflavored organic chips as one never knows exactly what is used in the flavoring and MSG is common. |
| Both butter and coconut oil are a saturated fat and, as such, are stable during the heating process—they do not change shape and are easier for us to digest than a heated, unsaturated fat. For this reason heated, saturated fats in small quantities occasionally can be tolerated by most people without any serious problems.
We have been led to believe by the oil and margarine advertising companies that all vegetable fats are better than any animal fats. But is this true? Let us compare the relative merits of butter and margarine. Butter is not heated during processing. |

While whole fruits vary in their relative speed of sugar release, they are always better choices than juices or concentrates. blood sugar is elevated, more insulin is typically released than is actually needed. |

The conversion to the long-chain Omega-3 fatty acids from flax or hemp seeds is amplified by 1 tablespoon of coconut oil per day, from a conversion rate of 1-3 percent up to 6 percent. Golden algae concentrates give high amounts of DHA and purslane supplies the EPA long-chain Omega-3s. Klamath Lake algae supplies both EPA and DHA. The safest cooking oils are coconut oil, olive oil, and butter. Avoid eating only the whites, because your body needs the yolks in order to properly absorb and digest the wonderful attributes the eggs offer.
The Truth: cholesterol is primarily elevated by the over consumption of sugars and foods that convett to sugar rapidly, including fruit juices and other sweet drinks. Organic eggs are a near perfect food that should be a staple in your diet.

Eventually I found that I could go without any skin-care products at all and now only use a little extra-virgin olive or coconut oil when necessary. My skin can feel especially dry when I swim in summer, fly, or if I am exposed to indoor heating for an extended period of time.
If you are using a skin-care line, change to an organic 100 percent natural one that contains no animal products or artificial colorants and preservatives. Also support one that does not test on animals and use a pH-balanced cleanser on the rest of your body. (Visit www.mary-anns. com for what I recommend. |

Some of the other things I do, from a nutritional standpoint, are eating aloe vera gel, and eating no corn oil or other low-grade oils. I avoid all hydrogenated oils, and I eat at least one extremely large salad every day. Some days I eat two large salads. |

We can double the conversion factor to 6% if we consume hemp seed or flax seed and their oils with coconut oil (a great idea). We can also get the long-chain omega 3 fatty acids from the same place fish get it - algae. Purslane (a wild herb) and blue-green algae from Klamath Lake (a popular healthfood store item) contain long-chain omega 3 fatty acids. Also, golden algae can be dried and pressed for its raw oil which is super-high in long-chain omega 3 fatty acids. This algae oil is called DHA and is essentially a vegetarian form of fish oil. |

| Coconut oil contains what are referred to as short- and medium-chain triglycerides, while the saturated fats in animal products are long-chain triglycerides. Being shorter in length, short- and medium-chain triglycerides are processed by the body differently and are preferentially sent to the liver to be burned as energy. In fact, these fats actually have been shown to promote weight loss by increasing the burning of calories (thermogenesis); some research suggests that they lower cholesterol as well.

However, if you make good decisions at the grocery store and choose, for example, to purchase healthy oils -- like macadamia nut oil, olive oil, flax seed oil or even unprocessed coconut oil -- then your chemistry is going to be much healthier. Your blood chemistry profile will be positive rather than negative. It will indicate health rather than disease.

The Salad Dressing Quandary
It's a common pitfall: you have just either ordered or made a healthy and nutritious salad—only to pour an unhealthy salad dressing over it.
The problem is that the vast majority of commercial salad dressings in supermarkets, fast-food places, and national chain restaurants are made with highly refined soybean or cottonseed oils, rich in omega-6 fats. |

Unrefined, pure, organic, virgin coconut oil is a product that falls in that "miraculous" category. All you do is take one tablespoonful in the morning and one tablespoonful in the late afternoon. If you do this every day for thirty days, here is what you could find. High blood pressure can be a thing of the past. Circulation problems vanish. Mood swings, gone. Depression, lifted. Constipation, cured. Arthritis pain, reduced or eliminated. Cancer, in remission. Cholesterol, normalized. Acid reflux and heartburn, diminished or gone forever. |
| Take a teaspoon of organic virgin coconut oil before each meal. This will help food pass through the digestive tract quicker, stopping the conversion of food to fat, as well as stimulate the thyroid, increasing metabolism and making you burn stored fat even while you sleep.
4. Drink Yerba Mata tea. Drink three to four cups throughout the day; always use pure water, never tap water. This tea will reduce appetite and increase metabolism and energy. It's important to drink throughout the day, starting first thing in the morning, and ideally drink some every few hours. |

The perfect margarine would have coconut oil, macadamia nut oil and butter flavor, whipped into the texture of margarine. That would be quite heart-healthy and have no trans-fatty acids whatsoever. Of course, it would also be the most expensive margarine product on the market, but as consumers become more educated about the health benefits of healthy oils, they are increasingly willing to pay higher prices for healthy ingredients. |
